which i used to pay for hte item i bought on ebay in the first place? if not what does the refund to paypal mean to me?

yes, they put the money back on your credit or debit card.call your credit card company and find out if the refund was available.

i think they only return it to your paypal account instead of your credit card

They transfer it into your paypal account. You can then transfer it back to your bank acc or credit card. Or use it to buy something else on ebay

Refunds go directly into your PayPal account. The only reason you have your credit card and checking acct information on file with PayPal is because this is how PayPal confirms your identity. Your account and credit credit will never be used for anything. All PayPal transactions stay within PayPal. Hope this helps!
I use my PayPal account for my business. It’s been great! BUT … I’VE HAD MY SHARE OF PROBLEMS WITH PAYPAL AS WELL.
** THEY DO HAVE SOME HIDDEN COSTS AND SOME OTHER SHADEY STUFF TOO. JUST WATCH YOUR ACCOUNT CLOSELY AND DOWNLOAD YOUR MONTHLY STATEMENTS AND KEEP THEM IN A SAFE PLACE.**

If you paid for the item by credit card the refund also goes back to your card, but if you paid using funds in your Paypal account the refund is shown in your account. Either way you can see the refund in your transactions. Go to account review and see the trancastion details, where you can see when the money was refunded and where it is gone, if to credit card you will see a new transaction with details, so there will be two transcation details, one for refund and another transfer to credit card. Don’t worry your money is safe.
