Is it safe to sell on craigslist using paypal?
I’m currently selling a ms office professional 2007 on craigslist for 185. A buyer offers to buy it from me but he lives 1hr and 30 minutes away so he wants me to send it to him and he’ll pay me through a paypal. He claims to have a verified paypal account and he is willing to pay for shipping, which is a couple dollars. If that’s the case is this safe or is this a scam? Please provide suggestions and advice. Thanks!

Do not ship it until you receive the money in your account. Tell him that, if he is a scammer, he would try and talk you into shipping, or back out. That will be your cue.
As far as possible, do direct buy/sell and do cash transactions while using craigslist.

Make sure he pays for the item first… beware of them creating a fake paypal e-mail telling you the payment has been sent. Log on to the paypal website to confirm and not just relying on your email. Also make sure the payment is not pending if it is pending that means you still have not been paid.

yes, just wait until you recieve the money in your paypal account. when you ship the item, pay the extra like .35 and get the tracking number. that way you can see when he recieves the item.

Whether you do or not is up to you, but the things you should remember:
1. Craigslist provides no buyer or seller protection. It was never intended to be a "selling" site the way eBay or Amazon are.
2. You have no protection whatsoever if he files a complaint with PayPal after the fact. In these types of cases, PayPal almost always sides with the buyer.
The thing to consider is are you willing to accept the chance that this could be a scam and you might lose both the product and your money?
