What do i do next? I sold a camera on ebay and I used paypal as a payment. I got an email saying that the payment was sent, yet there was no money in my account. How do i know when to ship?

After you can sign into your Paypal account and can actually SEE the money in your account.
Beware of emails that say, "the money cannot be released until you provide proof of shipment"–these are fake emails by scammers hoping to get the item for free. Paypal is NOT an escrow service.

Keep monitoring your account…do not ship until you see the money. After the 2nd day I would send your customer an email, telling him that the payments hasn’t made it through yet and that you are waiting to ship until it clears.

Yes, wait to see the money, but you can also run a transaction report on PayPal and see if you need to "accept" the payment.
Another scam you need to take care of is people trying to hack your PayPal account through eBay, so always use a password that combines letters, numbers and symbols, and change it from time to time.
If you do not receive the payment or any news from the buyer within 7 to 45 days, open an unpaid case at the resolution center, so you are not charged.

call paypal because the payment should be in your account (unless they used a paypal check, which takes about 3 days to clear). If it is a check, I would touch base with the buyer so that they understand the situation. Otherwise they may leave poor DSR rating for shipping time.
